Winter Olympics — The Fearless Are Here (Personal Illustration)
Personal illustration on the Winter Olympics theme — five winter-sport athletes against the Olympic rings in a dynamic composition. A speculative piece drawn around the Pyeongchang Games to test a high-energy painted style for sport title sequences.
A personal Winter Olympics illustration by Seb Antoniou, drawn speculatively around the 2018 Pyeongchang Games.
The brief
Self-set. The piece was a personal test of whether a single painted illustration could land five different winter sports in one composition without falling into a stock pose grid. The Olympic rings became the structural spine; the athletes — downhill skier, ice hockey player, bobsleigh, biathlete and ski jumper — were composed around and through them, each drawn at the moment of action rather than at rest. The intent was to show a register that could feed a sport title-sequence pitch.
The storytelling decision
The piece was a test — could I land five different sports on one composition without it feeling like a stock pose grid. The rings were the spine; everything else had to bend around them.
